Patreon Exclusive Course LMS
By Alan Richardson
Tester HQ is now an off-patreon Patreon exclusive course LMS
Over the years I’ve created a lot of training courses, some free some paid for.
Some of the courses I do not own all the publishing rights to e.g. my Linkedin courses.
Some of the courses I do and I’ve hosted them on Teachable and Udemy etc.
Teachable and Udemy have both been a cause of pain over the years due to technical issues and changes in terms and conditions, so I’ve bee meaning to create a very simple a escrow LMS (Learning Management System) which I can add my courses to… just in case those other platforms fall apart.
I’ve tried in the past to use Wordpress plugins and other hosting sites but nothing really felt like I was in control.
So I’ve spent some time creating a very basic LMS which can surface my online training courses and material, and to access it you need to be a current Patreon supporter. When you login using your Patreon account via the Patreon Oauth process you’ll see a list of course content that is available.
Patreon is a good membership site but it doesn’t support course hosting and navigating courses or hierarchical material is not what Patreon was designed for. The current version of my LMS allows payment/membership to be handled by Patreon, and the ‘course’ delivery to be handled by me.
Some of the courses are built from content hosted on Patreon, some of the courses were available commercially, now they are free to Patreon supporters.
I’ll be adding more courses over time and organising the Patreon content to make it easier to access.
